The 2016 International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO (Y4U) is inviting applicants to submit papers that contain the best practices of the organization and must be aligned with any of the themes mention below.
 Y4U aims to gather at least 300 members of UNESCO Clubs and youth organizations working on the ideals of UNESCO and provide an avenue for sharing of best practices, ideas and promote collaborations for the championing of SDGs in the grassroots.
UNESCO’s goal in the promotion of the SDGs is embedded in its mandate of “contributing to peace and security by promoting collaboration among the nations through education, science and culture in order to further universal respect for justice, for the rule of law and for the human rights and fundamental freedoms”. UNESCO’s main lines of work are innovative entry points for UNESCO clubs to both mainstream and connect the grassroots with the SDGs.
Aims
  • Initiate discussions on the sustainable development goals intertwined with the national scenario
  • Craft assembly resolutions that are specific for each of UNESCO’s main lines of work and are focused on realistic and measurable initiatives
  • Provide avenue for sharing of best practices which organizations may emulate, innovate and/or adopt; as well as avenues for networking, academic and non-academic competitions, all towards improving camaraderie and social inclusion.

Submission Criteria
  • A paper may only be submitted once, with no retractions or modifications once received by the Y4U Secretariat. Once submitted, the order and names of authors listed on the original submission may not be altered including indication of the lead author’s name.
  • The Y4U 2016 papers will be composed of details of applicants organizational projects which include, but not limited to, preliminary research results and work-in progress reports. The paper must have a maximum of 2,500 words containing the following:
    • Abstract
    • Description of the project mentioning the stakeholders and partners
    • Objectives of the project
    • Undertaken activities
    • Outcomes of project
  • The Secretariat will correspond with the Lead (primary) author only. Co-presenters should not contact the secretariat.  It is the primary author’s responsibility to notify all co-presenters regarding the status of the proposals / papers as well as to notify the Y4U Secretariat of any change in the Lead Author’s contact information.  The secretariat will use the contact information provided on the original submission and it is the Lead Author’s responsibility to notify to such change.
  • All presenters are required to register for the full conference registration. All travel and additional expenses, including the conference registration fee, are the responsibility of the presenter(s).
