Description
TACSO People2People is organizing a Leadership Workshop for Rights-based CSOs between 27-31 March 2017 in Mavrovo, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
This workshop aims to:
  • Nurture, support and strengthen the leadership capacity and resilience of CSO representatives and activists who are operating in changing and volatile circumstances;
  • Bring together CSOs and activists working in the fields of human rights, LGBTIQ rights, women’s rights, children’s rights, minority rights and other rights based focus, from the Western Balkans and Turkey to share experiences working in various contexts;
  • To share and develop tactics and strategies for defending rights in challenging circumstances.

Eligibility

CSO representatives or human rights activists fitting the following criteria are invited to apply:
  • The CSO of an applicant must be registered/working in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia or Turkey; 
  • Be active in the areas of human rights protection either through advocacy, litigation, capacity building, mediation or community mobilisation;
  • Must have at least 3 years experience working in the field of human rights and must currently be engaged in human rights related issues impacting the country;
  • Must be supported by the organisation to participate in this study visit, with concrete commitment to integrate lessons learnt into their work;
  • The CSO representative must be able to take part in the entire workshop;
  • A good command of English is an advantage but not strict requirement. Interpretation from Turkish/Kurdish and B/H/S languages may be provided if necessary.

Costs


Fifteen (15) participants will be selected and supported to attend the event Turkey and three (3) each from BiH, KO, MK and SR. For the selected participants, TACSO will provide travel costs (including costs of visas, if applicable), accommodation, meals and refreshments during the study visit.  Further information can be obtained from the TACSO Web site (www.tacso.org).
