COBERM III Grant Programme: Supporting Initiatives of Local Civil Society Organizations,

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Georgia is seeking applicants for its COBERM (Confidence Building Early Response Mechanism) III Grant Programme with an aim to support initiatives of local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in a wide range of areas and activities, including support to improve the lives of people and living conditions of local communities affected by conflict.

Aims
  • Support innovative people-to-people confidence-building opportunities.
  • Help create an environment conducive to fostering peace, stability and human security.
Thematic Areas
  • Youth Education and Capacity Development for Leadership and Civic Activism Related to Peace and Stability
  • Support to Enhance Human Security of Most Vulnerable Groups
  • Women’s Contribution to Peace and Stability
  • Peace Building Awareness through Broadcast, Print and Social Media
  • Exchange of Expertise between Professionals from Different Fields
  • Promotion of Tolerance, Human Rights and Respect for Cultural and Ethnic Diversity
Funding Information
  • The maximum requested funding per organization can be no more than 150,000 USD.
  • A funding cap for organizations with less than 3 years of experience will be established on a case by case basis by the Steering Committee.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Applicants must:
    • Be registered and have a bank account;
    • Have sufficient administrative, financial and technical capacity to implement a project;
    • Demonstrate good track record of working with donors in the past.
  • Priority will be given to local NGOs, international NGOs are also welcome to apply; however, particular attention will be given to the cost factor (INGOs are encouraged to search for co-funding) and highlight the positive added value of international status/contribution.
  • Preference will be given to:
    • Projects that propose cooperation on issues of pragmatic importance that at the same time provide foras to establish/re-establish relations and enhance communication between people and local communities affected by conflict.
    • Projects that propose particularly new approaches that respond to the broader spectrum of confidence building and address the challenges of communities living in conflict affected areas. Projects with strong conflict prevention elements that aim to solve conflict triggers within their own communities will also be considered on an exceptional basis.
