HST Call for Expressions of Interests: Evaluation of South African Health Review,

Health Systems Trust (HST) is seeking application for its Evaluation of South African Health Review (SAHR), an annual peer-reviewed publication currently funded by the National Department of Health.

Objectives
The objectives of the SAHR are:
  • To produce a publication reviewing a wide range of cross-cutting issues with a particular focus on key policy issues pertaining to the South African health system.
  • To assess and highlight progress in key areas of the national health system, and assess policy implementation and to make recommendations.
  • To determine how best to disseminate current health policy and implementation information to community structures, such as health governance structures.
The objectives of the evaluation
  • To conduct an impact evaluation that solicits input from key stakeholders and users of the SAHR (HST staff, DoH staff, readers, authors, researchers, public health practitioners) on the usefulness, accessibility and relevance of the publication over the past five years and to measure the extent to which the Review achieves its objectives.
  • To identify gaps, or weaknesses in the content and reach of the Review.
  • To make recommendations on the approach, topics and themes that should be considered in future editions of the Review.
Eligibility Criteria
The service provider will have 10 years’ experience conducting assessments and evaluations in the South African public health sector.
