Apply for IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development!

The Islamic Development Bank established the IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development in 2006 to draw international attention to the vital role women play in developing their communities and the world.
The Theme for the 1439H/2018 Prize is “Women’s Contribution to Promoting Peace and Stability”.
Objectives
  • Recognize: the important role of women in IDB member countries and Muslim communities globally contributions made by individuals or organizations to improve the socio-economic status of women in IDB member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries.
  • Encourage: efforts to improve women’s access to opportunities and resources to help them become active participants in developing their economy and society individuals and organizations that offer grants and resources to work towards promoting women’s leadership, engagement and contribution to the socioeconomic development process.
  • Inspire: women by promoting exemplary role models individuals and organizations to initiate and actively engage in all projects aimed at developing women and building their capacities.
  • Reward: individuals and organizations that are committed to improving the well-being and status of women locally, nationally, and globally actions that reinforce and strengthen the role of women as essential contributors to society as well as effective agents of change and development.
Prize Information
The Prize consists of two cash awards:
  • U.S. $ 50,000 for a woman or a group of women.
  • U.S. $ 100,000 for an organization.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Individuals:
    The Prize will award outstanding achievements made by individual women in various aspects of the promotion of peace and stability. This category plans to highlight exceptional efforts undertaken in one or more of the following areas:
    • Preventing / resolving conflicts and promoting resilient societies.
    • Developing capacities of women in crisis setting / fragility situations.
  • To be eligible for the Prize, women must meet the following requirements:
    • Provide activities in the IDB member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries.
    • Hold values, principles, and exhibit work that do not conflict with those of the IDB.
    • Have projects / activities that are innovative and have contributed to the promotion of peace and stability.
    • Be nominated by an organization.
  • Organizations:
    The Prize will award outstanding achievements made by women led organizations, which are working at the community level in various aspects of peace building and stability. The category will highlight outstanding achievements in one or more of the following areas:
    • Preventing / Resolving conflicts and enhancing societies’ resilience
    • Promoting social inclusion in post-conflict situations (providing women equitable access to opportunities, supporting their participation and giving them voice)
    • Peace building and reconstruction in post-conflict societies
    • Developing capacity of women in crisis setting / fragility situations.
  • To be eligible for the Prize, organizations must meet the following requirements:
    • Be legally registered and work in the IDB member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries.
    • Be a not-for-profi­t institution.
    • Have women in the decision-making level of the organization.
    • Hold values and principles and run operations that do not conflict with those of the IDB.
    • Support projects / activities that clearly highlight the role of women in bringing about peace and stability.
    • Be nominated by an independent organization.
