The 2017 Call for Applications for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network is now open!If your city is interested in joining this growing Network, you may access the documents below and find out what is required and what it means to become a UNESCO Creative City.
The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) was created in 2004 to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development. The 116 cities which currently make up this network work together towards a common objective: placing creativity and cultural industries at the heart of their development plans at the local level and cooperating actively at the international level.
Application Procedure
The application must be submitted via email to: ccnapplications(at)unesco.org, with the “subject”: Application UNESCO Creative Cities Network. This email should include the following attachments:
(i) The official 2015 Application Form available on the UCCN’s website completed;
(ii) A formal letter from the Applicant City’s Mayor presenting the candidature;
(iii) A formal letter of endorsement of the candidature from the National Commission for UNESCO of the country in which the city is located;
(iv) Two formal letters of support from active national professional association(s) in the creative field concerned;
(v) Three photos of your city related to the creative field concerned s (JPEG, max. 3MB);
(vi) The “Cession of rights and register of photos” form duly filled in.

All applications must be submitted by email to ccnapplications@unesco.org, using the official UCCN 2017 Application Form available below, and must be received by the UNESCO Secretariat no later than 16 June 2017, midnight CET. Applications received after this deadline, incomplete and/or received in a different format will not be evaluated.
