Model European Union Sofia 2017! Deadline: 31 May 2017
Open to: participants from around the world
Venue: 6– 10 September 2017 at Sofia University

Description

Model European Union Sofia 2017 wlll take place from September 6th to September 10th at the premises of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The team of BETA Bulgaria is delighted to rejuvenate the tradition of organizing simulations of the decision-making inside the institutions of the European Union and welcomes you to one of Europe’s oldest and most beautiful cities after a short hiatus.
For this edition, our aim is to reproduce the rejuvenation of two important legislative initiatives appertaining to the European Union’s strategy for the establishment of a Digital Single Market and the access to environmental justice within the EU’s Emission Trading System. The debate will be underlined by two important events of pan-European importance – the White Paper on the Future of Europe, as well as the up-and-coming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union from January to June 2018.
Our goals is to turn promising individuals to real policy entrepreneurs by involving them in the amendment of legislative proposals that are currently befitted for the purpose of establishing a competitive digital and ecologically sustainable European economy. Additionally, you will be working in focus groups that will reveal the particularities of implementing your amended proposals in three of the five scenarios for the Future of Europe: doing less together, doing more together and establishing a multi-speed Europe. The best essays, the adopted documents and policy papers will be published in a book and disseminated to media and policy-makers.
