Description
The Kiev International Short Film Festival will take place April 19 to 23, 2017 in Kiev, Ukraine. The festival is accepting short films (up to 30 minutes) that were finished after April 2015. Categories include fiction, documentary, animation or experimental. Any entries not in English must include English subtitles.
The festival develops a national and an international short film platform and aims to discover new film making forms and methods in Ukraine and abroad. It is a meeting point for filmmakers, a source for inspiration and new knowledge for experts, students and cinema lovers. KISFF is a hotbed for talent development and promotion of cinema as an attractive leisure for all target groups possible!
Informal education is one of the festival’s activities and aims to encourage potential filmmakers to expand their knowledge through adopting practices and communication with foreign colleagues.
Eligibility
Short films from around the world which are created by professionals as well as film schools’ students.
Awards
The winners of the International and National Competitions will be selected by the International and National Jury Boards correspondingly. There are minimum 3 international film professionals in each Jury Board. The authors of the winning films will be awarded from the Festival Prize Fund.
There are three main Awards at the Festival:Best Film, Best Director, Audience Award. Jury Board can also award films with ‘Jury Special Mention’ (up to 2 awards).
Costs
The submission fee ranges from USD 6 to USD 10, depending on film length and deadline. Official representatives of film schools may submit films of their students for free.
The bulk submissions by film schools are free of charge (the password should be requested from alika.kharchenko@kisff.org ), while individual students are not eligible for the free submission).
How to apply?
The submissions are accepted via FilmfreeWay.
Official representatives of Film Schools may submit films of their students for free. Please request the password for the ‘Film School’ category at info@kisff.org. Films must be submitted by the director, producer, distributor of any other official representative. A person, who submit the film, holds all necessary rights for the film to participate in the Festival. This person is also responsible to proceed with communications with a Festival.
The regular deadline is 31 January 2017 (the late deadline is 28 February 2017)
