The First Mile Innovation Challenge: Seeking Innovations for Healthcare Solutions! Deadline: 10 January 2017
CAMTech and GE Sustainable Healthcare Solutions have announced The First Mile Innovation Challenge to crowd source innovative technologies/solutions that directly address clinical or community hardships in global primary care. These innovations should impact communities and individuals in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Competitive submissions will demonstrate how the proposed technology/solution addresses an existing primary care health challenge and why current solutions are inadequate. Submissions will also outline how the innovation can be applied in clinical settings through a sustainable commercialization and business model.
Priority Areas
Innovation focus must lie on:
- Maternal, Newborn and Child Health
- Cardiac Health
- Safe Surgery
Award Information
Winners of the First Mile Innovation Challenge will receive $25,000 USD in funding, in addition to introductions to GE’s new five.eight Accelerator and resources provided through the CAMTech Innovation Platform.
Eligibility Criteria
- Anyone that is addressing an unmet challenge in global primary care is eligible to submit the Letter of Intent.
- The First Mile Innovation Challenge is seeking innovations that are focused on improving health in low-and middle-income countries. However, technologies with potential global impact, including both low-and middle-income countries as well as high-income countries are eligible.
Note: Official signatures from an authorized representative from an academic institution, an NGO or a private company are not required for the preliminary stage/Letter of Intent but will be required in the full proposal submission stage.
