Youth Exchange in Vienna: Raise Your V.O.I.C.E 0.3! Deadline: 28 October 2016

Open to: young people eager to engage these fields and topics of media and communications, minorities and marginalized groups

Venue: 3 – 8 December 2016, Vienna, Austria

Description

The main activity of the youth exchange is to host one youth mobility event in Vienna, Austria which will gather 36 young media enthusiasts. The event will take place from the 3rd until the 8th of December 2016 and will enable the participants, through non-formal working methods, to examine what it means to be a part of a minority group and increase their own media literacy by recognizing how media builds the picture of the “others”. All countries will have active role in the project. Mladiinfo Austria has the role of a host as applicant organization and we will coordinate the program and the main activities in Vienna. Moreover, during the exchange we plan to actively involve the participants in the topic of the interest through various means, such as: presentations, discussions, role-playing and conducting field trips on a several locations in the city important for understanding the position of the categories concerned. The participants, divided in several groups (5-6) will collect materials for creating their final products (articles, photos, and/or videos) by visiting local NGOs working with minorities and by

“putting themselves in the shoes of the others”.

Eligibility

Young people who are eager to engage these fields and topics of media and communications, minorities and marginalized groups;Participants residing in Germany, Slovenia, Italy and Portugal;6 (5+1 team leader) participants per country, aged 23-30 and one team leader for whom there isn’t age limit;Required to participate in all sessions held in English language only, so they must have proficient written and spoken English.

Costs

Costs for travel, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, and local transport in Vienna are covered, where the costs for dinner should be covered by the participants. Participation fee: 25 EUR.
