Description
goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Film organized by the German Film Institute aims at increasing the international audience’s awareness for film-cultural developments in Central and Eastern Europe, and it will facilitate international contacts between filmmakers, thus raising international dialogue, understanding and cultural integration.goEast is organized by Deutsches Filminstitut – DIF (Schaumainkai 41, 60596 Frankfurt).

The 17th goEast Festival will take place in Wiesbaden, Germany, from 26.04. to 02.05.2017. The festival presents current film productions – feature films as well as documentaries – from countries in Central and Eastern Europe as well as co-productions with decisive contributions from those countries. The films will be shown in competition, out of competition and in special programmes.

Eligibility
The festival showcases documentary and feature films created from 2015 to 2017 in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine or Uzbekistan.

Awards
The first prize winner will receive EUR 10,000. Other award categories include the prize for best director, EUR 7,500, and the prize for artistic originality, EUR 4,000.

Films can be in any language but must include English subtitles. The submission deadline is 31 December 2016.
