Applications open for Women Leaders in Sport Grants!
The Women Leaders in Sport (WLIS) program is currently seeking applications from eligible candidates, with an aim to provide women with development opportunities to reach their leadership potential in the sports industry.
This is an Australian Government initiative which is managed by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) in partnership with the Office for Women.
Since its inception in 2002, WLIS has supported over 23,000 women in sport for leadership development. WLIS has been highly regarded in the Australian sport community. Many notable women leaders in sport are previous recipients of WLIS.
Program Components
- Individual Development Grants,
- Organisation Leadership Development Grants, and
- Targeted Leadership Development Program.
Funding Information
- The maximum Individual Development Grant amount is $3,000 to support course/training fee.
- The maximum Organisation Leadership Development Grant amount is $20,000 to support for eligible expenditure.
Eligibility criteria
- WLIS Individual Development Grants
- be female
- be aged 18 years or over
- be an Australian citizen or have been granted permanent residence status
- be involved in a paid or volunteer capacity at a local, state or national level in the sport industry for the duration of the project
- be supported by a sporting organisation that is affiliated with a national sporting organisation recognised by the ASC. The supporting organisation must confirm that the individual is involved in a paid or volunteer capacity at a local, state or national level in the sport industry, and that their organisation supports the application
- apply for grant support for a course/training that commences in 2017
- be available to attend an allocated 2017 WLIS Leadership Workshop (refer below)
- if previous WLIS grant recipients, have no outstanding acquittal and/or reporting requirements
- WLIS Organisation Leadership Development Grants
- be affiliated with and supported by a national or state sporting organisation that is recognised by the ASC, in the order that:
- a local/regional club will need verification from the affiliated state sporting organisation
- a state sporting organisations will need verification from the respective national sporting organisation
- a national sporting organisation will need verification from a member of the executive or board of the organisation
- apply for support for a project on women leadership development
- commence the proposed project in 2017
- if previous WLIS grant recipient, have no outstanding acquittal and/or reporting requirements
