Nominations Open for MYS Sir Hugh John Macdonald Memorial Award 2016!, Deadline: 15 September 2016
Macdonald Youth Services is inviting applicants for the Sir Hugh John Macdonald Memorial Award to a member of the community who demonstrates the virtues and values of the founding father, Sir Hugh John Macdonald.
Nominees for this award demonstrates the values of respect and fairness toward youth and provides practical assistance for youth such as mentoring, training, employment opportunities and developing life skills. The recipient of this award will receive a custom-made plaque as well as a donation made in his or her name to a charity of their choice.
Macdonald Youth Services is a community of people working together to create an environment that upholds the cultural and spiritual beliefs and meets the needs of the children, youth, adults and families they serve. They offer a variety of programs and services.
At Macdonald Youth Services, they believe each individual deserves the opportunity to feel safe, worthy, to be loved, to belong, and to be respected. They recognize that many of the individuals they serve have their own story to share and have faced many challenges in their lives.
Process
- Call for nominations are made in August of each year by the CEO of the agency. The deadline is September 15.
- Current Board members, staff, volunteers, and clients of MYS can nominate individuals for this prestigious award. The nomination must include supporting documentation that demonstrates how the nominees meet the qualifications for the award.
- The award will only be presented in years in which a suitable individual is nominated.
- The award will be presented by a representative of the Board of Directors to the recipient at a public or agency event.
Eligibility Criteria
- Recipients may reside anywhere in the world but must agree to be present at an MYS public gathering to accept the award.
- Recipients may not be a current MYS staff, foster parents or volunteers.
