IELTS Scholarships for Bangladeshi Students, 2016-2017
British Council is offering IELTS scholarships for Bangladeshi students. These scholarships are available to study undergraduate or postgraduate programme overseas in 2016/17.
The programme aimed to support more Bangladeshi students to access an international education experience.
The British Council is a British organisation specialising in international cultural and educational opportunities. It works in over 100 countries: promoting a wider knowledge of the UK and the English language; encouraging cultural, scientific, technological and educational co-operation with the UK; and changing people’s lives through access to UK education, skills, qualifications, culture and society.
Only candidates who have taken an IELTS with a British Council test centre in Bangladesh after 1 April 2016 and have secured an overall IELTS score of 6.0 will be eligible to apply.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate programme.
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.
Scholarship Award: Five scholarships will be awarded BDT 300,000 each. Scholarships are earmarked as one each for institutions in Australia, US, UK and all countries including these three.
Scholarship can be taken at Abroad
Eligibility:
- A Bangladeshi citizen
- Intend to study undergraduate or postgraduate programme overseas in 2016/17
- Willing to attend a higher educational institution that accepts IELTS as part of the admissions requirements
- Who has taken the IELTS test from 1 April 2016 till the test date of 1 December 2016 with the British Council test centres
- Who has/will have a valid IELTS score, with a minimum overall band score of 6
- Who will be able to provide the letter of acceptance/ offer from the attending institution by 12 December 2016.
- Take an IELTS test at a British Council Bangladesh Test Centre and receive scores
- Download and complete the application form
- Applicant must attach a copy of IELTS Test Report Form and the writing task with their completed application form
- Completed application must reach any of the British Council offices by 1 December 2016
- In the second stage, 20 applicants will be shortlisted based on their writing task submitted with the application. All successful applicants will be notified by email on 5 December 2016
- Short-listed applicants will be required to attend an interview by an assessment panel on 12 December 2016
- Five applicants will be awarded the scholarships based on their performance in the interview
- The final shortlisted applicants must bring a copy and the original letter of acceptance/ offer from the university they plan to attend
- Failure to provide a letter of acceptance/offer letter within the deadline may result in immediate withdrawal of the scholarship
- The winners of the scholarships will be notified by email on 14 December 2016.
Nationality: Bangladeshi citizens can apply for IELTS scholarships.

Test Requirement: Applicants must take an IELTS test at a British Council Bangladesh Test Centre
