The Lab is currently looking fellows who are not only interested in teaching English but also in helping contribute to community space for its English Teaching and Community Engagement Fellowship Program. The sponsors are interested in people with a wide range of skills, interests and passions who are also interested in Vietnam.

The Lab is part language center, part coffee shop, but at the heart, a community center located in Vung Tau, Vietnam. It was started by four individuals who envisioned an environment where people could learn, build and create together.
The Duration of the Program is 1 year.
Benefits
  • Fellows will receive a living stipend and will be provided free housing.
  • Fellows can also opt to teach extra classes for an hourly wage based on experience, skills, and qualifications or privately tutor.
Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Design
    • Assess course materials and seek authentic supplementary material
    • Research modern and traditional teaching methodologies to enhance student learning
    • Develop trainings and documents for future teachers
  • Marketing
    • Conduct research into effective marketing strategies
    • Develop short-term and long term marketing plans
    • Coordinate social media campaigns
    • Flyer and develop word of mouth marketing campaigns
  • Event Planning & Project Development
    • Develop and organizing weekly/daily events for The Lab
    • Reach out and collaborate with other groups and companies in the area
    • Create projects that engage the community around issues of social, economic, and environmental justice
  • Community Outreach
    • Develop relationships with groups and individuals within the Vung Tau area
    • Create community groups and or work with existing groups to work on events and programming
    • Conduct field research and assess community needs
    • Develop workshops for the community
    • Connect volunteer groups
Eligibility Criteria
  • Basic Qualifications
    • Native English speaker
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Comfortable with technology
    • Commitment to social justice and equity
    • Interest in Vietnam, Vietnamese language and culture, and the Vietnamese community
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher from a 4 year accredited university)
    • English teaching certification (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA)
    • Experience in marketing, curriculum design, event planning, etc (see below for more details)
