The ODI is pleased to announce that nominations for the Open Data Awards 2016 are now open. The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals and businesses working with open data – both in the UK and worldwide. If you would like to nominate an individual or company for any of the categories then you can do so using this form. Nominations are open until 18 September at midnight BST; the shortlists will be announced ahead of the ceremony on 1 November.
The awards categories are:
  • Business Award: celebrating open data used to transform business
  • Publisher Award: celebrating high publishing standards and use of challenging data
  • Innovation Award: celebrating open data used as a tool for innovation, in any sector
  • Social Impact Award: celebrating open data used as a tool for social good
  • Champion Award: celebrating an outstanding individual pioneer of open data
  • Women in Data Award: celebrating pioneering women working with data
We welcome nominations from UK and international colleagues, and you may submit the same nomination in more than one category. We will publish data for shortlisted candidates openly under a CC BY 4.0 licence.
This is the third year in which the Open Data Awards have taken place, testament to the growing importance and relevance of open data. The winners in 2015 includedOpen Corporates, which has developed the largest open data base of company information, and Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), which facilitates open-source development of antimalarial drugs in the pharmaceuticals industry. In recognition of the ODI’s commitment to championing gender diversity in the industry, the inaugural Women in Data Award will be presented this year to a female individual or group making waves in the world of data.
This year’s ODI Summit and Awards take place on BFI Southbank on 1 November. For further information, please visit this page or contact summit@theodi.org.
